Frankincense, the “King of oils” is known for its high value as it was used in the mummification process of the royal and upper class in ancient Egypt. Frankincense has also been used in religious ceremonies and contemplative meditation practices for centuries. 

According to preclinical research, Frankincense essential oil may promote healthy cellular function when taken internally. Experimental research suggests it may provide soothing internal effects, thanks to its high levels of α-pinene. Frankincense also helps maintain healthy skin structure, and its warm, spicy aroma creates a relaxing yet uplifting atmosphere.


Plant name: Boswellia Frereana

Plant family: Burseraceae

Native Region: Native to North Africa and India, but can also be found in Oman, Yemen and Western Africa.

Essential Oil Extraction Method: Steam distilled after the milky white resin from the bark turns into a hard orange-brown resin.

Properties: Analgesic, Antidepressant, Antiseptic, Cicatrizing, Cytophylactic

Affirmation: By the light of the divine I am whole

Blends well with: Citrus oils like Lime and Wild Orange together with Cypress, Lavender, Geranium, Rose, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang and Clary Sage

Safety: Can irritate sensitive skin. Dilute with a carrier oil. Use caution if you are prone to sensitive skin. 



HISTORICAL USES:

Frankincense was used to treat wounds and abscesses, skin rashes and dermal problems, inflammation, arthritis and gastrointestinal issues.


WELLNESS USES:

Known as the “King of the oils”, Frankincense is commonly used to relieve symptoms of indigestion, relieving inflammation and pain and can be used to reduce the appearance of scars and blemishes.

MIND/EMOTIONS

Depression & Anxiety

To help reduce the feelings of depression and anxiety, place a drop of Frankincense under the tongue and apply to your pulse points. Frankincense may also be diffused in your space for perfect, long-lasting tranquillity.


Migraine support

Frankincense is a powerful healer. Frankincense enhances the benefits and properties of other oils when used together. To treat the symptoms and pain experienced from headaches and migraines, blend 2 drops Frankincense, 1 drop peppermint and 1 drop Lavender together, roll behind the neck, on temples and centre of forehead. Then follow with 1 drop of peppermint on the thumb and press to the roof of your mouth. 


Alertness 

Apply 1-2 drops of Frankincense, Peppermint, Basil, Rosemary and InTune to forehead, temples, or base of skull as needed; inhale a few drops from cupped hands. Do this to awaken your senses. (Extracted from our AOM Series 5)


Absentmindedness

Massage 1 - 3 drops into forehead, temples, back of neck, and chest as needed; inhale from cupped hands.


Concentration

Apply 3 drops of Frankincense, Peppermint, InTune, Vetiver and Rosemary to back of the neck and temples. Also diffuse several drops. (Diffuse on your desk with the MySpace Diffuser)


BODY/WELLNESS

Pain and Inflammation

Frankincense contains anti-inflammatory properties and is best for treating pain and inflammation. Place a drop under the tongue, or massage into inflamed areas for relief. 


Cellular Function

Various cells in our body have their unique role to help us function fully as healthy human beings.  Take 1-2 drops of Frankincense in a veggie capsule to support your cells leaving you feeling energetic and strong. This is also great to build immunity. 


Blisters from the Sun

Apply a few drops generously to the affected area to get relief from sunburn and blisters. Blend with Lavender and Aloe Vera for a soothing experience. 


Menstrual Cramps

Massage 2-4 drops of Frankincense, ClaryCalm, Clary Sage, Peppermint and AromaTouch into abdomen, lower back and shoulders; apply to a warm compress over uterus area to ease and support menstrual cramps and pain. 


Low Milk Supply
